Texas Ophthalmological Association Shares Gov. Perry's Vision for Texas’ Future Aug 2, 2010
AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of the Texas Ophthalmological Association (TOA) Executive Council for the 2010 general election.
"Gov. Perry has a long track record of successfully advancing medical care in the state of Texas," said TOA President Dawn Buckingham, MD, an ophthalmologist from Austin. "TOA is proud to endorse him in his re-election and thankful for his leadership in passing groundbreaking medical liability reform in Texas, which has brought needed physicians to our state and serves as model legislation for other states to follow. We hope that all physicians will remember Gov. Perry’s contributions to Texas when they vote in November."
TOA is a member organization of more than 800 Texas ophthalmologists and was founded in 1956 to promote the science and art of medical eye care through education and advocacy. TOA is Texas' largest organization of eye physicians and surgeons.
"Texas Ophthalmologists are instrumental in improving Texans' health and quality of life," said Gov. Perry. "I am honored to have the support of the Texas Ophthalmological Association and proud of our successful efforts to crack down on lawsuit abuse and improve quality and affordability of health care in Texas. I will continue working with health care providers across the state to ensure Texas remains the best place in the nation to live, work and raise a family."
